OBGC Concept Plans

Concept plans represent the first ideas of a project - they are not the final blueprint.  Olney Boys and Girls Club Community Sports Association (OBGC) has created two different concept plans to place a gymnasium and workforce housing on the 32 acre property on Bowie Mill Road.

Gymnasium
Concept #1
Concept #2

The OBGC concept plan provides two much needed gymnasiums.  The Washington Post discussed the severe lack of gym space on the front page of the Metro section on December 29, 2004.  The plans also include 60 - 75 workforce housing units - housing for those earning between 80 - 110% of the area median income.  Teachers, firefighters, nurses, and other county employees generally fall within this income range.  Currently there are no market rate units.

Olney Coalition has met with OBGC to discuss these concept plans and the focus is on the environmental, traffic, lighting, and ownership issues.  OBGC welcomes input from the community and plans to modify the designs based on the input they receive.  Olney Coalition discussed all of the current options for the 32 acre property at its meeting on February 7th and supports the OBGC concept but questions how it can be implemented.
