Dear President Silverman,

My family and I moved to Olney in August, 2004 from out of state.  My wife insisted on purchasing a home in Olney due to the wonderful schools.  With Olney only being 15 miles or so from Chevy Chase which is where I work I didn't have a concern and thought that Olney would be fine.  But as you probably already know the commute on some days can be quite intense.  My concern for the 32 acre property on Bowie Mill Road is that if you put a mass of homes there it will make my commute even more unbearable.  The congestion on Bowie Mill Road as it stands is already thick and putting anything other than the existing R200 zone will increase my commute greatly.

Balancing the new development with the roads, schools, and emergency services is very important in a master plan.  There is a right location for every type of project.  For the 32 acre property on Bowie Mill Road, I ask you to support the Planning Board's recommendation and retain the R200 zone.  This zone is compatible with the existing communities that surround the property, will keep the plan in balance with respect to our roads and schools, and most importantly, is the appropriate zone to build workforce housing units thus keeping the roads bearable for drivers like me.

Thank you,
