Proposals
for the 32 Acre Bowie Mill Road Property are Discussed at GOCA.
In response to the County's RFP, there are five proposals to
develop the 32 acre Bowie Mill Road property. Two
proposals were discussed at GOCA's
April meeting and the remaining three are invited to discuss
their plans at
GOCA's May 9th meeting.
The County would like to hear from the
community - plan to come.

Opportunities to Meet Candidates Running for Local Office.
The number of
children in a classroom, how many homes can be built on a
property, speed bumps on a road, and the property tax rate is
determine by our local government. Much of the money Montgomery
County receives from the state is related to the effectiveness
of our state representatives. This fall, be sure to vote wisely
in the primary and general election by educating yourself about
the views of different candidates.
GOCA is hosting three debates in May for County Council
Districts 2 & 4 as well as for County Executive.

The Montgomery Green Democrats and Democracy for America will be
co-hosting a forum on Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 am
– 4:15 pm at the County Council Building (100 Maryland Ave in
Rockville). There will be multiple debates occurring
simultaneously for district races so you won’t have to sit
through a Q&A session that does not directly affect your vote,
there will be multi-partisan officiating, and no opening or
closing statements.

The 400 homes of Manor Oaks has joined the Olney Coalition.

Olney
Coalition President is GOCA's Citizen of the Year.
Barbara Falcigno earns top honor as the Greater Olney Civic
Association's 2006 Howard J. Garber Memorial Citizen of the
Year. Falcigno says, "This award represents the work of
many, many people. Olney is a great place to live because
of the people who live here and I am honored to receive this
award."

Citizen
Representation on the Selection Committee for the 32 acre
property.
Barbara Falcigno is now a member of the Selection Committee
which will evaluate the five proposals received in response to
the County's Request for Proposals to develop the 32 acre
property on Bowie Mill Road. Members of the committee have
to sign stating they will not discuss the proposals outside of
the committee. The committee hopes to have some decisions
made by the end of May 2006. |
