About Us

Description

The Olney Coalition is an independent, non-partisan network of individuals and neighborhood associations in Olney, Maryland. We are a volunteer organization funded solely by contributions.

Background

The Gazette wrote an excellent article describing Olney Coalition, why it formed, and how it works.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to preserve the semi-rural residential character of our community and the qualities of life we value - fine schools, excellent roads, and a healthy environment.

We carry out our mission by:

  • Monitoring development, land use and zoning activity that affects community character or qualities of life.
  • Keeping members informed on issues so they may effectively express their opinions in the voting booth, at public hearings, and by providing written comment to public officials.
  • Working with other civic associations, coalitions and environmental groups that share our goals.

Our Members

The Olney Coalition is composed of the residents of local associations who have voted to join us. The following groups have joined to date and represent almost 3,000 households:

Briars Acres
Cherrywood
Manor Oaks
Norbeck Grove
Norbeck Meadows
Oatland Farms
Olney Acres
Olney Oaks
Olney Square
South East Rural Olney Civic Association (SEROCA)

In addition, residents of the Olney area not included in the groups above may join with us.
