Development on the

32 Acre County-Owned Property on Bowie Mill Road

The county has narrowed the choices to two different developers who will present their proposals on Tuesday, October 9th at the GOCA meeting.

The meeting is in the Community Room of the Buffington/Remax building (next to Ricciuti's - entrance is next to Curves) and starts at 7:45 pm.

The Request for Proposals required each developer to submit TWO DIFFERENT plans.

Option A is with housing only and up to 117 units (no gym on site)

Option B is with housing plus a gymnasium and substantially fewer than 117 units.  The gymnasium will be dedicated to the Montgomery County Department of Recreation.  What you will see is fewer housing units = 20 or 21 less units.

Those who listen to the presentations will have the opportunity to fill out Community Comment Cards.

There is a place on the comment card to record your preference for which option (A or B) you think is best as well as which developer (Mid City Urban LLC or MHP/Elm Street) you think is better.

If you cannot make it to the October 9th meeting, I have the plans and Community Comment Card.  I will be home and available to review the plans on Sunday and Monday evening between 6:00 and 7:30 pm.  Please call before coming (301-476-4716).

The zoning is in place so we cannot change the number of units proposed.  We can be heard about whether or not a gymnasium is built in addition to the housing as well as which layout seems to fit the neighborhood better.  I hope to see you on Tuesday night.
